Home & Family Management
Home management, also known as housekeeping, includes all of the daily tasks necessary for owning and maintaining a home; usually, we think of housekeeping as cleaning (dishes, laundry, floors, etc.) but it can also include repairs and other maintenance, regular payment of rent and utilities, and other chores. The term “home management” implies a strategy involving multiple workers and some form of hierarchy, and indeed in the original usage, a housekeeper was considered the #2 authority in charge of a household, second only to the owners, and responsible for managing a potential host of maids, butlers, cooks, handymen, and drivers. Home management in a modern sense can thus be considered the art of organizing and delegating tasks within a family in order to share the load, teach responsibility and other moral values to children, and keep everything working smoothly.
This text is intended for a traditional audience, among those looking to manage their home and organize their family more efficiently. Presented as a collection of techniques in a common-sense, straightforward manner, with reference to every aspect of home management -- not just cooking and cleaning, but also other family responsibilities, activities and hobbies. Written from a Christian point of view with light spiritual tones, this book will leave you with a cleaner house and less friction between family members, and -- maybe best of all -- more free time, as tasks are completed with less wasted effort.
