Architecture is commonly understood to be the art of designing buildings.  Incorporating elements of aesthetic design along with engineering principles, architecture is behind the creation of all the world’s most beautiful buildings.  Many cultures and cities throughout history and around the globe are remembered for their unique monuments and skyscrapers, proof that architecture is a built-in facet of human society.  Students of architecture will learn about more than design, though -- they’re expected to understand every element of the process, including construction and maintenance, and to keep in mind at all times the needs of the eventual occupants of the building themselves.  A round room may seem like a striking innovation, but how difficult will it be to find furniture that fits against the wall? Is the building accessible to people with disabilities? Is it going to have trouble with cell signal strength and internet bandwidth? Does it conform to regulations?  These are just a few of the problems architects have to keep in mind as they study.

This Lego set allows children to recreate all the most iconic structures in Paris, which of course includes the famous Eiffel Tower among other buildings.  Students of architecture can appreciate the attention to detail, while children can just have fun being creative with their assembly -- and learn something about Paris while they’re at it.  Once the fun is over, you’ll be left with a collectible piece that can spark conversation -- or you can take it apart and try to build something new.
