The Code of Ethics
The concept of occupational therapy tends to evoke many different reactions. Some see it as a necessary and vital sector of the American workforce, while others deem it to be the enemy of both businesses, and the American worker. However, there can be no argument that without occupational therapy, the landscape of our nation would be vastly different. The ethics behind occupational therapy, and displayed by those who practice in the field, is what draws such strong feelings, and typically harsh reactions by the mere mention. The book, Code of Ethics: Reference Guide to the Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics, by author and editor Deborah Yarett Slater, shines a light on this field, and deep dives into how ethics can impact the way therapy is administered in a business sense.
