The Baptist Story
Recommended for Graduate and undergraduate students, the book will surprise you with your lack of knowledge regarding the Baptists. Curiosity - if the Catholic Church sprung from Jesus's teaching directly through Saint Peter, does the Baptist church movement have a direct line from John the Baptist? The answer is definitely not. Turns out Baptists only date back to 1609 springing forth from a gentleman by the name of John Smyth (not baptist). For another interesting discussion read about how women and minorities were welcome and well represented in Baptist churches (but according to the Pew Research Center, today the National Baptist Convention is actually .99% white).
